• The Katipo spider is an endangered species of spider native to NZ. Translated from Māori to English, it means "night stinger". It is very uncommon to be bitten by this non-aggressive and shy spider. The females grow to around 8mm in the body and leg span of up to 32mm. The males are quite a bit smaller. They live near coastal places and usually spin their webs close to the ground.
